University Launches Online Certificate in Health Information Technology

Advances in information technology have fostered improvements to patient care and worker efficiency in the healthcare industry, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports. Devices such as hand-held computers can now be used record a patient's medical history, which often requires health information technicians.

Individuals who wish to launch careers in this field may want to consider earning an online certificate in health information technology or a related helthcare certificate. This week, officials from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro (UNCG) announced in a press release that the school will offer an online graduate certification program in health information technology.

The program, which is offered through the Bryan School of Business and Economics, was created for people who have acquired clinical experience and who wish to work in other aspects of healthcare delivery, as well as individuals without clinical training who want to launch careers in the healthcare industry.
